Shell & Slate Size 33, 9.2mm, Jitsuyo (Standard) Grade
Want the elegance and beauty of Shell and Slate stones but not at the Yuki price. Then try these standard grade Jitsuyo go stones. These stones are still made from the same high quality clams as the Yuki but they are cut from towards the back of the clam so they usually have less or greater variation of a pattern than the Yuki. However the great variation in pattern does make them very aesthetic when several are place on the goban. Pictures soon to come.
These stones are hand crafted in the coastal city of Hyuga, Miyzaki Prefecture on the southern island of Kyushu (which is where they derive their name), and this factory is a major supplier to the Japan Go Association. The Japanese have mastered the art of perfection, and to think professional players would play with anything else is unthinkable. Own the same stones used by the masters.
Samples Available: If you would like to see the stones first hand, just send me a $20 deposit and I will send you 4 stones (two each). Then return them, and I will give you your deposit back minus the cost to send them (probably a dollar or less).
Contents: 180 white Jitsuyo Grade clam shell stones, 181 black slate stones also crafted in Japan. They conform to the international size standards. Also included are felt pads to place in bottom of your bowls for protection. More pics coming soon...
